EVA KERN - about myself
Born in Vienna on February 28th. 1954, I sat in a darkroom for the first time when five years old, which impressed me a lot.
Eight years with the “ sisters of mercy”, a catholic school run by nuns also had a deep and important impact on me.
After one year in Graphische Lehr- und Versuchsanstalt, an art school, I worked as an apprentice for Madame Lucca Chmel, a female pioneer of architectural photography in Austria, for three years.
During 1980/90 I had my work published in many Austrian magazines
Since 1986 I work as an artist concentrating on b/w portraits.
During the last years I returned to my old love, the analog black and white photography. Until today, humans are the most important part of my work.
Since 2001, p u r e humans, a permanently growing archive of portraits , not exhibited yet.
